Overview

This three-day hiking adventure connects North Macedonia’s two largest lakes — Ohrid and Prespa — while crossing the stunning national parks of Galicica and Pelister. Along the way, you’ll hike scenic mountain trails with panoramic lake views, refreshing swims in crystal-clear waters, and spend the night in a traditional village guesthouse where you’ll enjoy authentic hospitality and homemade food. This unique combination of hiking, swimming, and cultural immersion makes the journey a perfect blend of nature and local life.

 

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Galicica – Magaro Peak – Brajcino

We begin with a meeting in Ohrid and a 40-minute drive to the Galicica trailhead at 1,600 meters.

The hike to Magaro Peak (2,255 m) takes 4 to 5 hours, covering 8.5 kilometers with a 700-meter elevation gain.

From the summit, enjoy panoramic views over both Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa. After descending on the opposite side of the mountain, we transfer to the lakeside village of Brajcino, near the Greek border. Overnight in a traditional guesthouse with a homemade dinner.

Day 2: Maloviste & Pelister Views

Explore the only village inside Pelister National Park, then hike up to scenic viewpoints overlooking the border regions with Albania and Greece. After descending, transfer to Bitola overnight in a traditional guesthouse under the mountain.

Day 3: Pelister National Park: Pelister big Lake

This is one of the most popular and scenic hiking trails in Pelister National Park. The route highlights the park’s natural landmarks: Molika pine forests, stone rivers, crystal-clear spring water, and the famous glacial lakes known as the “Pelister Eyes.” End og the hike transfer to Ohrid or airport.
